The MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology Program
The MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology Program is a distance-learning program run by the Sophia Centre at the University of Wales, Lampeter, UK, the third oldest university in England and Wales after Oxford and Cambridge.
The MA program examines the ways that human beings relate to the sky (through astrology, astronomy, and cosmology), using approaches from history, sociology, anthropology, and philosophy. Students work from home and course material is delivered via the web, email, and video conferencing.
The MA program can be taken part-time, over a period of up to four years. You can find details of applications, fees, and course content online here.
Entry into the MA in Cultural Astronomy & Astrology Program
Normally applicants are required to have a B.A. degree in a relevant subject (such as in history, anthropology, or the study of religions) however, in this instance, students, who either do not have a degree in the relevant discipline, or who do not have a first degree (B.A. or B.Sc.), can be accepted on the basis of prior experience and learning.
In this instance, we may ask applicants to write a 3,000 word academic essay, of which we will discuss and provide advice for at the intensive.
